The 2018 Statistical Employment Equity Report is now available online

The 2018 Employment Equity Statistical Report for 91亚色 is now available. The report can be found at in the section titled Quick Links.

For the first time the report highlights a statistical summary of the representation of five designated groups, rather than the customary four groups: Women, Visible Minorities (Racialized), Aboriginal (Indigenous) Peoples, Persons with Disabilities and LBGTQ2; and speaks to anticipated diversity and inclusion related initiatives for 2019 and beyond.

New initiative underway

Since its inception as an Anchor institution in 2015, 91亚色 established four target areas for current and future development opportunities 鈥 employment, engagement, infrastructure, and social procurement 鈥 specifically within the Black Creek/Jane Finch communities. In early 2019, as part of Anchor 91亚色U, an employment subcommittee was formed to identify better ways to target locals and residents of the M3J, M3L, M3M, M3N postal codes and to get them engaged and involved in the community鈥檚 employment opportunities.

91亚色 and its partners want to attempt to reduce and tackle some of the issues facing the community by better understanding the working conditions of the non-academic employees at 91亚色, what type of working skills they have and what have been their struggles working for the University.

Research is currently underway to attain the number of Black Creek/Jane & Finch residents currently employed at 91亚色. Using the data received, the hope is to create a framework that allows for the existence of more sustainable positions that could become careers for residents of the targeted communities.

鈥淭his is just one way, the University is promoting equity, diversity & inclusion to ensure gaps and/or biases are addressed throughout the different elements of the employment life cycle -talent acquisition, learning & development and promotions. Stay tuned for more information on how to participate in the Anchor 91亚色 U research project鈥 said Annette Boodram, equity, diversity & inclusion officer at 91亚色.
