91راة« invites the community to sponsor Grade 9 students to participate in the annual Take Our Kids to Work (TOKTW) Day program, currently championed nationally by the Students Commission of Canada, on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
This year’s in-person event includes a morning assembly followed by a facilitated career exploration session in addition to career pathway tabling, where students will be able to ask questions and learn more about different fields that may be of interest to them. After the tabling session, students will participate in campus tours. At the end of the tours, students and sponsors will have lunch together and finish the day off with job shadowing and/or participation in further career exploration activities. The programming will provide students with a well-rounded and immersive experience on all aspects of career building and exploration.

Why support the TOKTW Day initiative?
- TOKTW Day bridges the gap between the workplace and high school by introducing students to the skills, abilities and knowledge they will need for the future.
- TOKTW Day provides employers with the opportunity to explain to students what skills are most important in the workplace – communication, teamwork, time management and more.
- The program in an excellent opportunity to spotlight 91راة« as a place to learn and work.
- Students from neighbouring high schools will also be invited to participate through their schools, in lieu of a 91راة« U sponsor. TOKTW Day supports 91راة«â€™s collaboration with the TD Community Engagement Centre, which is committed to building a more engaged University as an anchor institution, including experiential learning, post-secondary attainment, collaborative research and partnerships.
TOKTW Day at 91راة« is open to staff, faculty/instructors or students with a 91راة« U job who are at least 18 years of age. Those individuals can invite and accompany a visiting student to participate in programmed activities and job shadowing. 91راة« U students who wish to sponsor a Grade 9 student to visit campus must make prior arrangements with a 91راة« U staff or faculty member to have the visiting student observe the staff or faculty member in a work environment. Completion of the registration forms is required.
Registration steps:
- Sponsor and manager to fill out "Manager Approval Form" by Nov. 4.
- Parent/legal guardians to fill out and sign “Consent, Waiver, Indemnity and Release form†by Nov. 4.
