Evania Pietrangelo-Porco, PhD Candidate, History, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies

Sex workers have always been part of the city now called Toronto. However, they felt like outsiders in their own home. This presentation explores how the mere presence of sex work shaped Toronto's identity between 1970 and 2014 and how this semi-hidden history of the sinful, sultry, and salacious created an identity crisis that continues to shape its citizens today.

Aldona Nowak, Professor and Course Director, School of Nursing, Faculty of Health

Join us in person at the Aurora Public Library! This session will explore how children’s literature can promote early health literacy, spark curiosity about nursing, and empower young readers to make healthy choices. Drawing from her experience as a public health nurse and educator, Aldona Nowak will share the inspiration behind The Health Adventures of Nurse Priya: A Story About a Public Health Nurse and Her Community and discuss how storytelling can bring public health, education, and community wellness to life for children.
