Director: Meg Luxton (Acting)

Dr. Luxton is a Professor in the School of Gender, Sexuality and Women鈥檚 Studies, 91亚色. She recieved a Ph.D. M.Phil.and in Social Anthropology from the University of Toronto. She is Director of the Graduate Programme in Gender, Feminist and Women鈥檚 Studies and has published widely on the women's movement in Canada and internationally, women鈥檚 work, paid and unpaid, and relations among work, family and class. Her current research examines the impact of social policy on informal caregiving practices and the relative economic security or precariousness of older immigrants.

During the 2008 - 2009 period, 91亚色 celebrated its 50th anniversary. In accordance with the celebrations, the Centre for Feminist Research organized a six part lecture series with Margaret Thornton, Research Chair from The Australian National University; Lorraine Code, Distinguished Professor Emeritus in Philosophy, Social and Political Thought and Women's Studies, 91亚色; Nadje Al-Ali, Director of the Gender Studies Centre at SOAS, University of London; Ann (Rusty) Shteir, Professor, Humanities and Women's Studies, 91亚色; Chandra T. Mohanty, Professor and Chair of Women's and Gender Studies; Professor of Sociology, Cultural Foundations of Education, Syracuse University; and Elisabeth Young Bruehl, Columbia University's Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research.

In addition to this lecture series, the following projects were hosted at CFR:

(2)聽Theorizing Anti-Racism: Rethinking the Tensions Between Marxism and Postcolonialism;

(3)聽The Feminist Journals Network (FJN)

(4)聽Penetrating Neoliberalism: Changing relations of Gender, Race, Ability and Class;

(5)聽CEDAW and the Status of Women in Ontario; and

(6)聽Gender and Public Policy.
