Job description

To support a global tuberculosis research network (Social Science and Health Innovations For TB or ), housed at the Dahdaleh Institute, under the supervision of Dr Daftary. The student will be engaged in management,  content curation and design, social media, and professional communication. The student will develop skills related to literature review and content synthesis, professional writing, communication and coordination with interdisciplinary global health researchers working outside of Canada, including opportunities to develop research-related media outputs, and become a core member of Dr Daftary’s research team. Students who show initiative, a strong work ethic, and capacity for collaboration may be invited to work for subsequent terms.

Minimum criteria

  • Full time student in the BA/BSc Global Health program at 91ÑÇÉ«
  • Entering 3rd year in Fall 2026 and/or finished minimum 3 of the core GH 2000-level courses
  • Average of A- or higher in Global Health courses taken to date 
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English (essay construction, proofreading, spell/grammar check, professional email communication)
  • Strong social media skills (LinkedIn, at minimum)
  • Experience building or managing websites (WordPress, ideally)
  • Experience building or managing email management systems (Mailchimp, ideally) 
  • Some experience conducting scientific database searches (PubMed or Medline OVID, ideally)
  • Some experience engaging with international communities (research or general community), even if only on a casual or personal level

Additional criteria

  • Works independently and resourcefully once tasks are assigned
  • Communicates and coordinates with a team when collaboration is required
  • Attends weekly meeting/s (1-2h/week) at an agreed upon time
  • Responds to emails etc within 48h (M-F)
  • Adheres to agreed-upon deadlines, diarizing where needed
  • Is proactive and highly organized, identifies milestones required and self-manages time to achieve those milestones

Job description

Under the supervision of Professor Adrian Viens, the Global Strategy Lab Research Dissemination and Design Research Assistant (for up to 10 hours per week) will work closely with the Communications and Research teams to support knowledge mobilization planning and execution.

The Global Strategy Lab (GSL) is a world class research unit with a long track record of bridging the gap between research and global health action. Our team advises the world’s governments and organizations like the World Health Organization on how to design laws, policies and institutions that address transnational health threats and make the world a healthier place for everyone. Our work focuses on three areas of research: global legal epidemiology, public health institutions, and global antimicrobial resistance.

Specific research activities the student(s) will be engaged in:

  • Research and analyze knowledge translation options to best share research findings with research;
  • Peer review articles and comment on research in progress;
  • Be an integral member of a cross-functional team developing knowledge translation plans on new research in the areas of public health institutions, global legal epidemiology, and antimicrobial resistance governance;
  • Work closely with researchers and the communications team to create knowledge translation products that make new research accessible to policy and public audiences.

Job description

Under the supervision of Professor Mathieu Poirier, the AMR Policy Accelerator (AMRPA) Research Assistant (for up to 10 hours per week) will work closely with research project leads (Dr. Arne Ruckert and Dr. Genevieve Boily-Larouche) to contribute to various aspects of active research projects at AMRPA.

AMRPA is a think-tank initiative of the Global Strategy Lab, tasked with accelerating global action against antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through research and policy innovation. We undertake three programs of work:

  1. Providing Advisory Services to governments, international organizations, and civil society in response to request for evidence on AMR policy, implementation and evaluation.
  2. Work with leading experts in the field to generate actionable Policy Research.
  3. Support policy development and research around the world through a suite of Capacity Building programs.

Specific research activities the student(s) will be engaged in:

  • Support research design, data collection, data management, and data analysis for Accelerator projects including systematic reviews and evidence syntheses;
  • Contribute to developing high quality manuscripts, research reports, and data visualizations;
  • Conduct literature searches and environmental scans;
  • Support knowledge translation activities such as report writing, public reports, presentations, grant applications, and peer-reviewed publications;

Job description

Under the supervision of Dr. Desai, the Adaptive Relational Interaction Systems RAY student (for up to 15 hours per week) will support the project that examines how interactive technologies and play-based activities can foster emotional closeness and enhance relational communication between individuals living with dementia and their care partners. Building on prior research in multimodal prompting and participatory design, the project focuses on designing and refining small-scale interactive prototypes (such as games or tangible systems) that encourage shared attention, turn-taking, humour, and affirmation. The research employs a Research through Design approach to investigate how rule-based, co-interactive activities can promote meaningful social connections rather than task completion.

Specific research activities the student(s) will be engaged in:

The undergraduate student will:

  • Assist with reviewing existing dementia-friendly games and communication tools
  • Support the design and refinement of interactive or game-based prototypes
  • Help develop and test rules, prompts, and interaction mechanics that support relational communication
  • Assist with observation, documentation, and reflection on prototype use
  • Contribute to visual documentation, design rationale, and research notes

Job description

Under the supervision of Dr. Desai, the Chronic Pain Management RAY student (for up to 15 hours per week) will support the project that focuses on the design of a chronic pain assessment and management tool grounded in qualitative research with people living with chronic pain. Over several years, the research team has collected rich qualitative data (e.g., interviews, workshop materials, design artifacts) exploring lived experiences of pain, self-management practices, and communication challenges with clinicians and caregivers. Earlier phases of the project included exploratory tool development. The current phase aims to systematically analyze the existing data using thematic analysis and to refine and finalize a pain assessment tool informed by these findings.

Specific research activities the student(s) will be engaged in:

Job description

Under the supervision of Dr. Desai, the Embodied Cueing through Haptics and Brain Interaction in Assistive AR Systems RAY student (for up to 20 hours per week) will support the project that is part of an ongoing research program in the Social and Technological Systems (SaTS) Lab that investigates how embodied interaction can support people living with dementia during daily rule-based activities. Building on an earlier version of CogniPrompt, an Augmented Reality conversational prompting system, this project explores how haptic feedback and brain-interaction sensing can enhance task initiation, attention, and engagement. The research examines how bodily cues and cognitive signals can complement or move beyond purely visual and verbal prompts in assistive AR systems.

Specific research activities the student(s) will be engaged in:

The undergraduate student will:

  • Assist in designing and prototyping embodied prompting interactions
  • Support integration of haptic feedback using SenseGlove equipment
  • Participate in exploratory use of brain-interaction data collected via Muse EEG headsets
  • Help test and refine interaction concepts within an existing AR prototype (CogniPrompt)
  • Assist with documentation of design iterations, testing sessions, and research insights
  • Participate in regular lab meetings and design reviews

  • Human–computer interaction and interaction design research

The student will receive:

  • Structured onboarding into lab protocols, ethics, and research documentation practices

Job description

The Wellness Impact Lab (WIL) – led by Dr. Harvey Skinner, PhD (Senior Fellow) and Susan Harris, MSW (Community Fellow) aims is to promote integrated health and wellness practices for personal growth and collective action. A key focus is strengthening our capacities for turning toward climate distress by fostering resiliency and action. Our passion is ‘healing ourselves, healing others, healing our world’.

Under the supervision of Prof. Margaret MacDonald (Faculty Fellow, Dahdaleh Institute) and co-supervised by Prof. Harvey Skinner (Senior Fellow, Dahdaleh Institute), the RAY student will support the work and future development of the Wellness Impact Lab.

Research Assistant and Digital Medial Lead Roles

a) Assisting with the technical IT aspects of meetings, communications and activities, and provide oversight of Global Health Interns projects. 
Note: Since Climate Cafés and related WIL events are inherently collaborative, for all three positions (RAY 1, RAY 2, and RAY 3) planning, promotion, and co-facilitation will be shared across with different areas of emphasis.
b) Expanding and maintaining the digital presence of the Lab on social media and WIL website. Creating social media content related to relevant climate topics, WIL events, and other Lab initiatives.
c) Designing processes and information and for onboarding new Lab members
d) Assisting with knowledge synthesis and providing training tools
e) Providing technical expertise and support for Lab activities.

Specific research activities the student(s) will be engaged in:

a) Expanding the digital presence of the Lab via Web Master website design and updating, social media outreach, and other mechanisms including blog activity including event updates and postings
b) Creating a series of reels for social media aimed at Climate Misinformation and YouTube Library of selected video for WIL website
c) Help with new projects and Lab activities where needed
d) Other

Type of research experience the student(s) will receive:

Job description

Under the supervision of Idil Boran, the Undergraduate Research & Project Coordination Assistant (for up to 10 hours per week) will support the administrative, research, and coordination functions of the BioCAM4 project. BioCAM4 is a multi-year, international research project focused on climate action, biodiversity, and environmental governance. The project places strong emphasis on professional research practices, structured coordination, and team-based learning within an institutional setting. This role is designed for an undergraduate student seeking hands-on experience in project coordination, research administration, and collaborative research environments.The role focuses on operational reliability, documentation, and coordination, supporting project leadership and contributing to the smooth functioning of a complex, multi-partner research initiative. The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Director, Principal Investigator, Project Manager, and student research team, and will participate fully in the project’s structured governance and coordination practices.

Specific research activities the student(s) will be engaged in:

  • Assist with the coordination of project activities, events, and research outputs, providing administrative, logistical, and technical support
  • Attend and actively participate in BioCAM4 project meetings, events, and activities
  • Provide administrative and coordination support to the Executive Director and Principal Investigator, and Project Manager
  • Support partnership coordination and correspondence with BioCAM4 consortium partners as needed
  • Support the transdisciplinary research activities of the BioCAM4 consortium
  • Assist with communication and dissemination activities, as required
  • Support the writing and editing of blogs, briefs, and internal project documents, as needed
  • Track tasks, deadlines, and deliverables, and report progress to the team
  • Present progress updates and completed outputs to the project team and leadership when appropriate
  • Gathering and organizing data from: multilateral environmental agreements, international and domestic policy documents, interdisciplinary research literature, research organizations and project partners, media sources (as required)
