
Jennifer Corriero is a social innovator with a passion for supporting young people in bringing their ideas to life through community based projects. She co-founded TakingITGlobal in 1999 and is dedicated to supporting youth across Canada and around the world through co-designing and delivering programs that leverage the power of their voices, creativity and technology for impact. She has expertise in the area of facilitation, program design, community development, mobile learning and systems change. She has her Masters in Environmental Studies. She authored the book Journey of a Social Innovator: A Guided Journal and has extensive experience with leading collaborative teams. In 2022, she curated and co-edited Flourish: A Workbook for Social Innovators, with 50 contributing authors.
In her role as Executive Director of TakingITGlobal, she leads digital learning programs including Connected North, which currently serves over 20,000 Indigenous students in over 150 schools in northern, remote First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities throughout Nunavut, Northwest Territories, Yukon Territories, BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. Jennifer also oversees various grants programs including Digital Inclusion Grants (2021-2023), the Samuel Connected North Youth Leadership Fund (since 2017) and the #RisingYouth program that was supported by the Government of Canada between 2018-2022. #RIsingYouth provided youth (age 15-30) with project micro grants grants to lead community service projects. The fund has distributed over 7 million dollars in grants towards over 7,000 youth-led projects in every Province and Territory across Canada.
Jennifer holds a Masters in Environmental Studies and has served as Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Health at 91ÑÇÉ« where she previously was Advisor to the Dean. She has been recognized by the Women’s Executive Network as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women. Jennifer has been a judge for a range of awards including the 2014 EdTech Digest Awards, 2014 Microsoft Challenge for Change Awards, 2013 World Summit Youth Award, and 2010 Buckminister Fuller Challenge. She has traveled to over 40 countries, presenting at conferences and supporting civil society engagement. In 2011, Jennifer served as a member of the Global Agenda Council on Youth Unemployment.
