Information Visualization (ITEC 6170, Graduate Course)

Students design, develop, and study interactive visualization techniques for the analysis, exploration, and explanation of large datasets. Topics include principles of visual perception, data and task abstractions, visual encodings of data, interaction methods, and visual analytics. Students get hands-on experience through group projects and programming assignments.

Data Visualization (ITEC 3310, Undergraduate Course)

Designed for undergraduate students from Information Technology and the Data Science programs. Adopts a subset of foundational material from the graduate course (ITEC 6170), augmented with hands-on exercises using Python libraries (Pandas, Matplotlib, Altair) and tools like Tableau. Topics include visual perception, data cleaning, static and interactive visualizations, and visual data storytelling.

Generative AI (Graduate Course, expected to be offered in 2027)

Introduces the foundations and applications of Generative AI, including Large Language Models: language modeling, model architectures, training phases, prompt design, and responsible usage. Covers interactive text generation, code and language generation, multimodal and agentic AI systems, AI Ops, and ethical aspects of Generative AI.
