Climate justice and participatory Imprints of large-scale climate oscillations on river flow in selected Canadian river catchments

River flow is essential in basin management, and a careful monitoring program ensures adequate water and resources are provided. Professor , Samuel Ogunjo, and Christiana F. Olusegun, investigated the impacts of six major climate oscillations on river flow at three stations within the Humber catchments (located in Ontario, ON and Newfoundland and Labrador, NL) from 1970 to 2020 using sensitivity and wavelet analyses. Results indicated that the discharge at East Humber River near Pine (ON) exhibits the highest statistically significant sensitivity, with 0.304 and 0.394 monthly units to the Dipole Mode Index (DMI) and Tropical North Atlantic (TNA), respectively.听

Envisioning Indigenous-derived climate change futures

Knowledge is foundational to climate change mitigation, adaptation, and impact reduction.听 , , and 鈥檚 research investigates the climate crisis through Indigenous-derived solutions and knowledge systems. To address the crisis and live well with the Earth, a transformational shift in how global society relates to all life must take place; and this can only be learned through Indigenous communities.

Finding common ground for environmental activism and ethics

Understanding climate change through multiple lenses is integral to making the necessary changes to address it. Researcher and activist approaches climate change in both Western and Eastern philosophies and has found long-term sustainability in the world鈥檚 faith traditions, especially in Buddhism and environmental activism in South and Southeast Asia. Timmerman is finding climate solutions in global unity and activism.
