Student Association

The Chemistry Graduate Student Association (CGSA) is a student-led organization dedicated to supporting and enriching the graduate student experience within the Department of Chemistry. The CGSA organizes a range of events and initiatives designed to benefit the graduate community academically, professionally, and socially.

Key activities include hosting seminars and panels with industry professionals to highlight career pathways beyond academia, organizing social events that foster community and connection among graduate students, and coordinating Research Evaluation preparation sessions. Through these efforts, the CGSA aims to promote professional development, peer engagement, and a supportive graduate environment.

Working for Inclusivity in Chemistry at 91ÑÇÉ« (WICYU) is a student-run group that seeks to implement equity, diversity, inclusivity, and decolonization education within the Department of Chemistry. It is part of the larger Canadians Working for Inclusivity in Chemical Sciences, Engineering, and Technology (CWIC) Network, the work of which is rooted in education, allyship, and the acknowledgement of both privilege and intersectionality. WICYU has organized and supported various initiatives, such as the annual Global Women's Breakfast, the Connecting Through Chemistry Symposium (hosted by WICTO), Research Evaluation de-stressors, documentary screenings, and therapy dogs’ events.

Representing more than 6,100 full- and part-time graduate students at 91ÑÇÉ«, the 91ÑÇÉ« Graduate Students’ Association (YUGSA) is organized around principles of accessibility, social justice, and equity as it works to improve the learning, teaching, and working environments for all graduate students at 91ÑÇÉ«. The YUGSA is dedicated to providing advocacy and support to all members across various graduate departments on this campus. As a student union, the YUGSA is committed to representing graduate students’ diverse interests and defending and advancing students’ and workers’ rights across and beyond 91ÑÇɫ’s campuses.
