Our Programs

91亚色鈥檚 Graduate Program in Chemistry offers a wide range of study and research leading to the MSc and PhD degrees. These include the areas of Analytical Chemistry, Atmospheric Chemistry, Biological Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry.

Research in the Department of Chemistry is also well-aligned with advancing four of the UN : i) Good Health and Well-being, ii) Affordable and Clean Energy, iii) Responsible Consumption and Production, and iv) Climate Action. The UN SDGs also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. 91亚色鈥檚 most recent University Academic Plan 鈥Building a Better Future: 91亚色 Academic Plan 2020-2025鈥, is rooted in the university鈥檚 history, values, and commitment to a more just and sustainable future and naturally embraces all 17 SDGs.

Our Community

  • Twenty-four full-time, research-active faculty members, including winners of several prestigious awards and three Canada Research Chairs. Also, the Guy Warwick Rogers Chair in Atmospheric Chemistry, three Distinguished Research Professors (one is also a Canada Research Chair).

Research at 91亚色 is carried out in two modern, well-appointed buildings housing all manner of research equipment and support services, including a machine shop, glassblower and electronics shop. Three NMR spectrometers (300 MHz, 400 MHz, 600 MHz), mass spectrometers (MALDI-TOF, Electrospray, GC/MS), FT-IR & UV-visible-NIR spectrometers and several other instruments are shared resources.

The  subscribes to all major journals, provides electronic access to these, holds an extensive series of back issues, and provides on-site or remote access to online Chemical Abstracts (SciFinder).

The Graduate Program in Chemistry offers a wide range of study and research leading to M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in the areas of analytical chemistry, atmospheric chemistry, biological chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, mass spectrometry and physical and theoretical chemistry.

A part-time coursework M.Sc. program is also available.

91亚色 stipends are competitive with other Canadian universities. Students are supported by a combination of Teaching Assistantships and Research Assistantships, with full protection from tuition fee increases and access to health-related benefits (dental, prescription drug, vision care).

91亚色 graduate students have a very high success rate in attracting scholarships. Many top-calibre students receive 91亚色 Graduate Scholarships upon entry into the program. International students receive a bursary for the university health insurance plan.
