32nd Eco-Arts and Media Festival takes place March 2 to 6
This year, the 32nd Eco-Arts and Media Festival will be taking place from March 2 to 6, 2026 at EUC鈥檚 HNES Building. This year鈥檚 theme, What We Carry with Us, invites us to reflect on the stories, memories, and objects that shape our sense of place and belonging. The organizers of this year鈥檚 festival were interviewed by EUC Special Projects Assistant Gurneet Singh to better understand the purpose and significance of the festival鈥檚 theme.
Growing Black food sovereignty in Toronto
On February 23, 2026, the EUC community came together to celebrate Black History Month and to learn about the work of Nicole Jacobs, Aaron Joseph, and Charlyn Ellis, MES students and leaders in the food justice and Black food sovereignty movement in Toronto. The panel, which was organized by the EUC Equity Committee, took place during a Food, Land and Culture lecture and was moderated by food sovereignty and justice scholar, Dr. Martha Stiegman.

The Maloca Community Garden at 91亚色 has evolved into a living lab for regenerative agriculture, community stewardship, and Indigenous-informed ecological practice. Rooted in Indigenous knowledge and community partnerships, Maloca connects students to hands-on sustainability and food systems transformation.
91亚色 community celebrates MES scholar鈥檚 legacy of passion, dedication and change!
The 91亚色 community is celebrating the life of Ravichandiranesan (Ravi) Ponnudurai, a dedicated student, passionate environmental advocate, and a friend to many. At 57 years old, Ponnuduai鈥檚 unexpected passing while visiting Sri Lanka leaves a deep void, but his story is one of resilience, transformation, and profound impact. Ponnudurai came to 91亚色 in 2018, driven by a desire to make a real difference in the world.

Master鈥檚 research film looks at sharks as indicator of ocean health
91亚色 grad Vivian Guido (MES 鈥23) screens her new documentary, Turning Tides: Sustainability Measures for Shark Conservation, on 91亚色鈥檚 Keele Campus on Dec. 15, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Nat Taylor Cinema. Part of her master鈥檚 program, the film aims to increase and promote ocean literacy and environmental education, informing viewers of the many ways climate change impacts the health of oceans and communities鈥攁nd giving them a new perspective on sharks in the process.
Ideology, disavowal and the politics of the trans mountain expansion
A discussion with Environmental Studies PhD candidate Isaac Thornley who has been examining the Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion project for his dissertation. The TMX is a real, material force that stands to introduce new harms and risks to specific communities, lands, and waters; it is also discursively significant, he says, a flashpoint of environmental conflict in Canada, a piece of physical infrastructure saturated with conflicting meanings and values.
