Concentrations are optional and provide an opportunity to focus your studies in a specific area by completing a set of thematically related courses. The Sport and Exercise Psychology concentration is the first concentration offered in Kinesiology and Health Science and is delivered in collaboration with the Department of Psychology.
Concentrations are open to all undergraduate Kinesiology and Health Science students in the Faculty of Health. Students may complete up to two concentrations as part of their Kinesiology and Health Science undergraduate degree, including BA/BSc, honours BA/BSc, and specialized honours BA/BSc programs, including if you’re completing a double major or minor in another program.
How Concentrations Work
Each concentration requires 18 credits in thematically related courses. Some concentrations offered with other schools or departments may require up to 24 credits to meet prerequisites.
Students may begin taking concentration courses at any time. No application is required.
GPA Requirement
To complete a concentration, students must earn a minimum grade of C+ or higher across all concentration courses.
Credit Requirements
- Courses may count toward both degree and concentration requirements.
- Students may take additional courses to meet concentration requirements and must meet all course prerequisites. Prerequisites are not waived for students completing a concentration.
- Required courses must be completed before the degree is awarded.
Note: 4000-level courses are available only to students enrolled in an honours or specialized honours degree.
Completing a Concentration
After enrolling in the final course(s) required for a concentration, students must email ugkhs@yorku.ca to notify the undergraduate office of their progress toward completion.

- Submit the concentration documents (check list and transcript) to ugkhs@yorku.ca
2. Accept Your Digital Badge
Staff in the School of Kinesiology and Health Science Office will verify your completion, and you will be notified of your completion status within 15 business days. Deadline: Submit your documents after your final grades are available, but no later than three months after your degree conferral (e.g., three months after Convocation).
