I really valued how much ownership DARE gave me over the research process instead of just having me do busywork in the background. Having one on one mentorship made a real difference too, since I could ask questions and actually understand the reasoning behind decisions rather than just following instructions. Coming out of it, I feel like I have a much better sense of what research work actually looks like day to day, and it's made me more confident about pursuing further academic work down the line.
