Ten 91亚色 students were honoured with the聽, recognizing their leadership at 91亚色 and their contributions to the growth, development and vitality of the 91亚色 community. School of Administrative Studies student Gurkamal Aujla was among the recipients. Aujla is in the BCom, Marketing Stream.
During her time at 91亚色, Aujla has encouraged first-year students to get involved through the New College Peer Mentorship Program. While pursuing a commerce degree, she is helping students across the University through her roles with the Society in Support of Red Cross at 91亚色, RedPack at 91亚色 and Student Accessibility Services.
鈥淐ampus life and creating connections are a huge part of university life and each and everyone of these individuals have demonstrated dedication and leadership towards helping their peers enjoy their post-secondary experience,鈥 says Yvette Munro, assistant vice-provost, student success. 鈥淲e鈥檙e thrilled to celebrate these award recipients who have paved the way towards an improved student experience for our 91亚色 community.鈥
Now in its 10th year, the award was created in honour of聽Robert J. Tiffin, who served as 91亚色鈥檚 vice-president, students from 2005-12. Award recipients were nominated by any member of the University community who demonstrated leadership and valuable contributions to the 91亚色 community.
鈥淚鈥檓 always impressed by the diversity of ways in which student leadership occurs at 91亚色,鈥 says Tiffin. 鈥淭hrough their active engagement with their educational experiences, in and outside of the classroom, these recipients have not only enhanced the student experience of their fellow students but also enhanced opportunities for future 91亚色 students to be engaged.
鈥淭hey are global citizens who understand the importance of creating a network between individuals and their community.鈥
