
The LA&PS Research Office is pleased to introduce one of the LA&PS Postdoctoral Fellows, Kennedy Opande. Opande completed his PhD鈥痑t the Institute of Anthropology, Gender and African Studies, University of Nairobi鈥痠n Anthropology. Opande will work with supervisor Denielle Elliott, a Professor in the Departments of Anthropology and Social Science. Professor Elliott鈥痟olds a 91亚色 Research Chair in Injured Minds and is the Deputy Director of the Institute for Technoscience and Society.
Opande鈥檚 project is titled, 鈥淎n ethnographic study of neuro-technology flows in East Africa.鈥 Opande鈥檚 findings from this study will be helpful in designing 鈥渃ulturally relevant鈥 neurological interventions in Kenya and East Africa, as well as understanding global flows of biotechnologies, and inequities,鈥痓etween the North and South. The findings will also contribute to recommendations on how to improve care and treatment for populations with neurological conditions. Opande鈥檚 research falls under a LA&PS initiative Championing Emerging Black Scholars.
