
Carmela Murdocca has been named the 2024–25 recipient of the  Faculty of Graduate Studies’ (FGS) Teaching Award. The award recognizes her exceptional commitment to graduate education and mentorship at 91ÑÇÉ«. Murdocca is a professor in the Department of Sociology as well as a 91ÑÇÉ« Research Chair in Reparative and Racial Justice. Â
Murdocca was selected based on her accomplishments in teaching and mentorship as well as her impressive commitments outside of teaching, which include serving on over 100 graduate committees as a supervisor and overseeing the work of numerous PhD students. She was praised for her ability to build community, communicate complex ideas and help reduce the isolation faced by many graduate students.
