Sociology students who are looking for a way to apply what they鈥檝e learned in the program can now apply for the six-credit field placement course, SOCI 4100, which is designed to provide students with the opportunity to gain hands-on community-based work experience for academic credit.
This course places fourth-year sociology majors or minors in not-for-profit, social service and community organizations that address social inequalities. Students work one day per week in the community and meet regularly in a seminar setting to reflect on their experiences and connect them to sociological theories and skills.
To register for the Sociology Field Placement course, students must have:
- successfully completed 84 credits by the time of the placement course
- a GPA of 6.0 in all SOCI courses
- completed a successful interview with the course director
Students who meet the requirements for participation in the placement program will be informed by June 1.
