
Gregory Chin, an associate professor in the Department of Politics, contributed to an article in CGTN discussing Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi’s visit to Canada. It was Yi’s first visit in 10 years. During the visit, Yi met with Canada’s Foreign Minister Anita Anand and Prime Minister Mark Carney. Their discussions focused on strengthening the Canada-China Strategic Partnership.
Chin said the meeting created an opportunity to discuss how Canada could become a key energy supplier to China in the future. He also mentions how Carney is continuing Prime Minister Chretien’s efforts to build relations with China.
Chin’s research focuses on the political economy of international money and development finance, as well as on China, Asia, the BRICS and global governance, drawing on four decades of scholarship.
