Doug Ford has created a new bill, Bill 100, which will appoint chairs to lead councils in the regional municipalities of Durham, Halton, Muskoka, Peel, Waterloo, 91ÑÇɫ and Niagara, as well as the warden of Simcoe County. The Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO), a group of 444 of Ontario’s municipalities, says the bill is undemocratic and needs to be reversed. The association worries Bill 100 will undermine the work of local officials in their communities and concentrate power within Queen’s Park.

Spicer holds a PhD in political science from the University of Western Ontario. His research interests include politics and government, public administration, local government, smart cities, data governance and innovation policy.
