Marium Nur Vahed

Lead, National Democratic Engagement

Marium Nur Vahed is a community organizer and a filmmaker. She leads national engagement at the Democratic Engagement Exchange, working with communities that have been systemically excluded from civic processes. Through her work with North 91亚色 Community House, The Canadian-Muslim Vote, the National Council for Canadian Muslims and as a Campaign Manager for a municipal campaign in Mississauga, Marium is experienced in grassroots voter outreach, civic education, and capacity-building for community organizations. She has directed, produced, and written over a dozen scripted and documentary short films, including a series that captures communities transforming climate anxiety into practices of resilience. In 2019, she co-founded the national non-profit Green Ummah to engage Muslims in climate action and is a recipient of the Top 25 Environmentalists Under 25 award for her work. In her free time, you can find her with a good book and a cup of chai at her local park.
