My co-op through LA&PS was honestly one of the most life-changing experiences I鈥檝e ever had. I started with almost no marketing experience, but my supervisor guided me through every step and gave me the confidence to create videos, take amazing photos, and manage social media campaigns that really made an impact. On top of the technical skills, I learned how to speak clearly and confidently 鈥 something I use every single day. This experience completely changed my career goals.

LAPS provided me with the support I needed 鈥 both financially and academically. Scholarships helped ease the burden on my family and gave me the motivation to continue doing what I did in my first year and to improve myself as I went along in my academic career. One of the most valuable resources for me was office hours. Professors and TAs in the English department really use that time to connect and help students develop their writing skills. That personal guidance makes a huge difference.

During my placement, I worked on a variety of projects that gave me hands-on experience in campaign planning and designing marketing materials. I developed and launched a Google Ads campaign for the Corporate Fund Development team, created a newsletter that reached over 70,000 subscribers, and helped plan and schedule yearly social media content. These projects allowed me to improve my communication skills, strengthen my attention to detail, and learn how to balance creative work with measurable goals.

The DARE research project gave me an invaluable opportunity to independently conduct an analysis that will benefit my future career in finance. I got to explore how to read and utilize databases and how to work with software to create results from a regression analysis. It鈥檚 my first introduction to how computer programs can help with complex problems.

The DLLL 1001 course made me feel comfortable. I was really anxious and not sure how I felt about this course. I didn't know how I was going to fit in. I didn't know how I was going to seamlessly incorporate myself into the student body. And I can confidently say with this class, I was able to do so with ease and that's something I am grateful for.
