Yeuhyun (Kevin) Kim

As a PhD Chemistry Candidate at 91ÑÇÉ«, Kevin studied his Master’s degree in Atmospheric Chemistry at 91ÑÇÉ« and Hons B.Sc. in Physics from University of Toronto. His main research interest lies in catalytic remediation of wastewater to achieve green and sustainable resource recovery. His current work focuses on developing effective photocatalytic nanomaterials for wastewater processing, with a focus on removal of organic contaminants.

Yiqian Wu

Meet , a dedicated doctoral student at 91ÑÇÉ«. Holding a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, China, and a Master's degree from Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands. In past research endeavors, Yiqian focused on using photo-electrocatalysis (PEC) for the removal of contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) from wastewater treatment plant effluents. Currently, Yiqian's research is centered around the application of UV as an advanced oxidation process (AOPs) to reduce biofilm in the drinking water field. Adedapo Adeola

Adedapo Adeola holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Pretoria (2022). He is a recipient of the Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellowship for Black and Indigenous Scholars at 91ÑÇÉ«. His research focuses on developing sustainable materials for water treatment applications, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals 3, 6, 11, and 12. Adedapo’s expertise in materials synthesis and environmental sciences drives his commitment to public health, environmental remediation, and sustainable development. He has extensive experience in research, teaching, and student mentorship in both Africa and Canada

Audrey Tam

Patrick Di Falco

Patrick is a MASc. student at 91ÑÇÉ« who is focusing on research investigating the usage of ultraviolet light for biofilm prevention and mitigation in humanitarian settings. He developed a strong interest in water resources engineering during his undergraduate studies and decided to continue pursuing studies in this field through graduate school. Patrick's interest is rooted in his belief that water is an integral part of our lives. He believes that we should strive to find more efficient ways to treat water while also making clean water more accessible to everyone.

Elan Chalmers

Elan is a master’s student at 91ÑÇɫ’s Lassonde School of Engineering, focusing on research to enhance water safety in Arctic and northern communities. Their interest in water resources engineering grew from professional experience addressing unique infrastructure challenges, particularly in Nunavut. Driven by a commitment to developing practical, innovative solutions, Elan’s research aims to improve water quality and safety, especially in remote and underserved areas. They are dedicated to advancing technologies and strategies to bring meaningful improvements to water systems in these regions.

Maranath Hormiz

My name is Maranath Hormiz, a civil engineer in training (EIT) with a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) from 91ÑÇÉ« and recipient of the 2021 Avie Bennett First Generation Award for Continuing Students. I am currently undertaking a Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Civil Engineering, with a research project focused on using machine learning to optimize drinking water facilities for manganese detection and removal.

Mohamed Raashid

Mohamed is an international undergraduate student pursuing a B.Sc., Specialized Honours in Chemistry at 91ÑÇÉ«. He joined the team as a Research at 91ÑÇÉ« (RAY) student, where he is gaining hands-on experience in laboratory research under the supervision of Yeuhyun (Kevin) Kim. His work focuses on the development of novel photocatalysts capable of degrading organic pollutants in wastewater. Mohamed is motivated by the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to scientific advancement through applied research. In his free time, he enjoys reading Russian literature and watching the clouds drift across the sky.

Jessica Moosaie

Jessica is an undergraduate civil engineering student at 91ÑÇɫ’s Lassonde School of Engineering. Her interests in drinking water infrastructure, climate resilience, and sustainable engineering solutions, have led her to work as a part-time research assistant with the Safe and Sustainable Water Research Group. After learning about persistent infrastructure gaps in Northern and Arctic regions through coursework and literature, Jessica became interested in exploring how climate conditions, remoteness, and environmental factors play a role in water system performance and reliability. Her broader extracurricular experiences, including STEM outreach through k2i academy and environmental initiatives through the Lassonde Engineering Society. have further shaped her commitment to equitable and sustainable infrastructure development.
