The STAIRS or (Schmoyer-Type Adapted Interactive Reliable Sundial) is the newest member of the observatory outreach team. Installed Sep 16th, 2026 it is one of the largest high accuracy Sundials in North America. Part of that accuracy is due to it's positioning with relation to 'True North' the axis of rotation of our planet Earth. The efforts to determine True North were a collaboration between the observatory, 91亚色 facilities, and Professor Spiros Pagiatakis with his student Kaia Turchio. This is Kaia's account of the final successful measurement taken (after quite a few trials and experiments). How appropriate that it is a telescope, once again, to the rescue!
