Over the next several weeks, prior to the start of the academic year, temporary roadway construction will take place on 91ÑÇÉ« Boulevard in and around the Harry W. Arthurs Common for the Toronto-91ÑÇÉ« Spadina Subway Extension (TYSSE) project. Here are key points about the work and its impact.
Temporary road construction for 91ÑÇÉ«: Work will begin this month on constructing temporary roadways on 91ÑÇÉ«’s Keele campus which will be required once construction begins on the 91ÑÇÉ« subway station at the east end of the Harry W. Arthurs Common. These temporary roadways will allow transit vehicles to continue to serve the campus core throughout the station construction period.
The roadway construction work this summer will include:
- building a temporary north-south road through the Harry W. Arthurs Common;
- widening a portion of the south arm of 91ÑÇÉ« Boulevard (south side of the Common) west of Ian Macdonald Boulevard;
- constructing a temporary roadway to parallel the south arm of 91ÑÇÉ« Boulevard east of Ian Macdonald Boulevard to James Gillies Street (along which traffic will be diverted during the subway station construction).
Construction of these temporary roadways is expected to be completed in early September.

Work hours: Work will normally run from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday.
Traffic impact and pedestrian safety: There will be roadway narrowing and walkway diversions and/or closures through the Common and on 91ÑÇÉ« Boulevard.
Traffic control personnel will be on campus to facilitate the safe movement of pedestrian, transit and vehicular traffic around the construction work areas. All existing roads will remain open and operational during the temporary road work.
Due to the nature of the work, motorists may face traffic delays.
GO Transit bus stops: GO Transit bus stops in front of the Centre for Film & Theatre will be temporarily relocated in front of Vari Hall and the Accolade West Building to enable the road work.
Construction vehicle access: Construction vehicles will access the campus via 91ÑÇÉ« Boulevard to and from Keele Street. During deliveries of construction material and equipment, traffic movement on 91ÑÇÉ« Boulevard and Keele Street may be delayed or limited to a reduced speed.
