Both regular and rechargeable batteries are classified as hazardous waste, as they contain chemicals such as nickel and cadmium that can be harmful to the environment if not disposed of properly.
Fortunately, 91ÑÇÉ« has numerous battery recycling bins to allow faculty, staff and students to properly dispose of their used batteries. Batteries collected in the bins are diverted from landfill and sent to a waste facility for proper dis-assembly and disposal. Refer to the  for bin locations on the Keele campus.
