Book Launch - La langue de ma mère. Une relecture afroféministe du nationalisme québécois
Born in 1992 in Montreal to Haitian parents, Kharoll-Ann Souffrant is aÌýÌýand a doctoral candidate in social work at the University of Ottawa. She has several years of experience in intervention in the community and the health and social services networks in Quebec. She is finishing writing a thesis on the Quebec version of the #MeToo movement from the perspective of women, survivors and activists from black communities. She is a member of the editorial board of the scientific journalÌýAtlantis - Critical Studies in Gender, Culture, and Social JusticeÌý. Since 2015, she has given to more than a hundred conferences, in French and English, in Quebec, Canada, and internationally, to very diverse audiences. Kharoll-Ann Souffrant is the author of the literary essay,ÌýLe privilège de dénoncer - Justice pour toutes les victimes de violences sexuellesÌýpublished by Éditions du remue-ménage in Quebec and Europe which was longlisted for the Grand Prix du Livre de Montréal 2023. Her writings have appeared inÌýThe Globe and MailÌý,ÌýLe DélitÌý,ÌýPolicy OptionsÌý,ÌýNoovo Info,ÌýÀ Bâbord!,ÌýLa Gazette des femmesÌý,ÌýLa Presse,ÌýLa Conversation CanadaÌý,ÌýLe DevoirÌý,ÌýPossiblesÌýandÌý³¢¾±²ú±ð°ù³Ùé.

Her second book,Ìý, will be published by Éditions du remue-ménage in Fall 2026. The Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec provided financial support for this literary project. Kharoll-Ann Souffrant is also the lead of the edited collectionÌýSexual Violence in Canada: Critical Perspectives from the #MeToo EraÌý(forthcoming with Canadian Scholars Press in 2027), which focuses on contemporary feminist mobilisations against sexual violence. The book features contributions from around thirty emerging and established authors from community and academic circles across the country.
