Our Goals:
- Promoting Independence:聽We aspire to foster an environment that promotes independence- coaching students in developing effective studying techniques and to succeed on their own.聽聽
- One-on-one Tutoring:聽We recognize that learning is never one-size-fits-all, as every student聽approaches studying in聽a different way.聽While lectures are great for delivering lessons to a wide audience,聽some students may respond better to a one-on-one approach聽that is聽tailored to their individual academic needs.聽In Peer Tutoring sessions, the tutee sits聽down individually with a peer tutor, where they will receive a highly personalized approach to learning-聽tailored entirely to what works best for them.聽
- Free Academic Support:聽We wholeheartedly believe and passionately advocate for student success.聽All聽our students should be able to strive for academic excellence without economic hindrance. Therefore, to make this ideal a reality, our tutoring聽services are completely free!
- Accessibility: We believe that academic support should be highly approachable and barrier-free. For many students, seeking guidance from faculty or staff members can feel daunting. Peer tutoring bridges this gap by offering a more accessible alternative; students find it easier to approach and relate to their peers, therefore our ultimate goal is to leverage this natural peer connection to ensure our services remain welcoming, effective, and fully available to every student who needs support.
- Academic Excellence:聽We want to make sure that students receive the best help that they can get. All Peer Tutors are selected through a rigorous聽interview process and聽possess聽a firm grasp on the course content, as well as great understanding of the Peer Tutor model.聽聽
How Can Apply?
We hire undergraduate students majoring in Science or Engineering. All聽second-year聽(or higher) students who have earned a letter grade of [A] or higher in any 1000- or 2000-level science or engineering course are encouraged to apply.聽

- Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS): 1001, 1011, 1012, 1015, 1021, 1022, 1028, 1520, 1540, 1560, 1570, 1710, 2001, 2021, 2025, 2030, 2031, 2032, 2101, 2200, 2210
- Engineering (ENG): 1101, 1103, 1110, 1111, 1810, 2001, 2003聽
Peer Tutor Responsibilities
Allocate a minimum of three (3) hours a week to the Peer Tutoring program.
(The three hours may include but is not limited to: in-person and virtual sessions, as well as administrative follow-up and check-ins.
- Communicate promptly and efficiently with the Peer Tutoring Program Coordinator, and/or Student Success Coordinator
- Check the program MS Teams site frequently to ensure you are notified of any updates to the program
- Check the Tutoring Request Forum regularly to help with virtual tutoring sessions.
- Attend and complete the mandatory training sessions prior to starting your role.
- Check your 91亚色U email frequently to ensure you are staying updated on program information

Hiring Process:
- Submit your application.
- Successful applicants will be invited to an interview.
- Successful candidates will complete the following training:
- The Peer Tutor Training聽
- BC3000: all volunteers need to complete this course, if you have not done so in the past already.
