IN THE MEDIA: 'Letting the kids be': Advice for parents on managing at-home learning expectations

As school boards across the country roll out their distance-learning programs, parents are trying to figure out the best at-home education approach for their kids amid a global pandemic.

Vidya Shah, an assistant professor at 91亚色鈥檚 faculty of education says 鈥渨e are asking too much of parents and teachers and we need to pull back on what the expectations are for children learning at home.鈥

She went on to say that 鈥渓earning doesn鈥檛 happen because of a perfect, pre-packaged lesson ... Learning is happening everywhere and all the time 鈥 in the kitchen when you鈥檙e cooking, when you鈥檙e going for a walk and in conversation with your children about what鈥檚 happening on TV.鈥
