When it comes to getting kids reading, coding and initiating activity during these times, parents are looking to Associate Professors Tina Rapke and John Ippolito of 91亚色's Faculty of Education for expert tips.
"If they have a to-do list for when they鈥檙e bored, refer them to it. Kids are responsible for their boredom. Remember that 鈥淚鈥檓 bored鈥 may actually mean 鈥淚鈥檝e got an idea of what I鈥檇 like to do, but I can鈥檛 quite sort it out.鈥 Talk through it," says Ippolito.
"Ask kids what they would like to learn about and let them pick books. Get kids to ask questions about the page you read and do the same for the page they read. Predict what happens on the next page," suggests Rapke on how to get children reading at home.
