Welcome to the May 2020 edition of Innovatus, a special issue of YFile devoted to teaching and learning innovation at 91��ɫ.

This month, I am delighted to partner with the Faculty of Education on this special spotlight edition. Together with Dean Lyndon Martin, we are sharing with you many of the exciting endeavours that the Faculty of Education has undertaken to enhance teaching and learning for its students.

President L. Lenton announces appointment of Interim Dean, Faculty of Education

I am pleased to inform members of the Faculty of Education and the 91��ɫ community that the Board of Governors’ Executive Committee has approved my recommendation that Professor Sharon Murphy be appointed Interim Dean of the Faculty of Education, effective July 1, 2020. Dean Lyndon Martin is taking up the role of Vice-Provost Academic in the Office of the Provost & Vice-President Academic. The search for his successor is under way.

Faculty of Education Associate Professor Celia Popovic has been awarded the Distinguished Educational Developer Career Award by the Educational Developers’ Caucus (EDC). The award recognizes Popovic’s influential career in the field of educational development at the local, provincial and national levels.

Assistant Professor Rachel Silver awarded the Gail P. Kelly Award for Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation

Rachel Silver, an assistant professor in the Faculty of Education at 91��ɫ, has won the 2019-2020 Gail P. Kelly Award for Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation from the Comparative & International Education Society (CIES) for her paper Sex, Schooling, and Moral Triage in Malawi.

Lisa Farley's examination of psychoanalysis and childhood development receives Outstanding Book Award

Associate Professor Lisa Farley's book, Childhood Beyond Pathology: A Psychoanalytic Study of Development and Diagnosis, has been selected as the winner of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) 2020 Outstanding Book Award.
