Helen Campbell — Back in Toronto!

Thirty-five plus years as a staff interpreter at the European Commission. Decades of experience training future interpreters. Participation in more exam juries than you can shake a stick at. A razor-sharp wit that will leave you doubled over with laughter. Underneath it all, a kind heart.

These are the qualities that have made internationally known interpreter trainer Helen Campbell one of the most requested names in the profession. And they are why we have asked her back to Toronto for a return engagement. Helen has been kind enough to oblige us, with two separate training opportunities.

1. Saturday, March 14

As part of the , Helen will be giving her popular “Note-Taking Boot Camp”. Are you new to conference interpreting? Ready to try your hand at long-form consecutive interpreting? Or maybe you’re an experienced interpreter? Who just wants to tighten up your note-taking technique? In either case, this three-hour interactive seminar is what you’re looking for. You’ll leave the session with a systematic approach, symbols galore, and a newfound confidence.

The seminar is just $50, and you can sign up today using the page.

2. Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22

The following weekend, Helen will be back at Glendon for a continuing professional development course sponsored by . In 12 hours over two days, Helen will work with an exclusive group of professionals looking to hone their skills in French-to-English interpreting. On the North American market, most work is from English into French, so this is a rare opportunity to take your work in the other direction to a new level. The course will cover both consecutive and simultaneous interpreting, and you’ll work in Glendon’s state-of-the-art interpreting lab.

The session is $270 for AIIC members and $350 for non-AIIC members. You can sign up using the page.

Long story short, this March, you’ll have two different opportunities to take your interpreting to the next level. And you’ll learn from one of the top trainers in our industry today.
