This free virtual event will run from Tuesday, February 21st to Thursday, February 23rd between 8:30 am to 8:30 pm (EST). From specialized graduate diplomas and innovative degree programs, future students can learn about pursuing graduate education from experts.

With one of the largest and finest cohorts of graduate students in the country, 91ÑÇÉ« has the resources and ambition to provide a first-rate student experience. Future scholars can discover over 100 different programs including Management Practice, Design, Interdisciplinary Studies, Education, and Science & Technology Studies with full and part time options available.

This winter's virtual event features sessions by FGS and also some sessions with graduate program representatives. These will provide the necessary tips and tricks for putting your best foot forward in your graduate studies application. International students can learn more about applying for a visa/study permit and what it’s like to study in Canada. Additionally, undergraduate students who still have a few years to go before formally applying can learn how to best prepare for graduate school applications.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) invites future students to Experience Grad 91ÑÇÉ« 2022. This free virtual event, which showcases the range of learning options and career pathways the university has to offer, will run from Tuesday, October 11 to Friday, October 14. Future students can take advantage of various info sessions and engage with Graduate Program and Graduate Diploma representatives between 8:30 am to 8:30 pm each day.

Whether someone wants to continue learning in the same stream or discover a new career, 91ÑÇÉ« programs offer experiential learning opportunities and an innovative education for a changing world. Through Experience Grad 91ÑÇÉ« 2022, future students can discover over 80 different graduate school options, full time and part time, from diploma programs to MA and PhD degrees. A variety of sessions are hosted by program representatives to provide future students with all the necessary information including panels presented by Management Practice, Social Anthropology, Environmental Studies, Development Studies and many more.

Future students should also take note of the panels hosted by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, which will be running concurrently with the program info sessions. From learning the basics of funding and scholarship opportunities to understanding the graduate admission process from start to end, FGS administrators and staff provide the necessary answers to make the application process run smoothly.

Communications and Digital Engagement provides support and resources to graduate programs to help enhance overall communication practices and promote 91ÑÇÉ« as a foremost graduate destination:

  • Provide counsel and action on web development, media relations, marketing, social media and strategic communications
  • Protect, promote and heighten a consistent and positive image for graduate education at 91ÑÇÉ«
  • Work closely with programs and campus departments to enhance graduate student experiences and internationalization efforts
  • Provide digital support to various divisions in FGS, and to units hosted under 91ÑÇɫ’s official web template

FGSnews is a monthly newsletter produced by the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) that is sent to all active graduate community members through 91ÑÇÉ«'s constituent relationship management system. The newsletter encapsulates information for our graduate community and campus partners; which includes key dates, important information, relevant news stories, financial opportunities, scholarships and awards, events of interest, and ways for grad students and postdocs to enhance their experience while here at 91ÑÇÉ«. The newsletter is created in digest format with links to more information. Newsletters are archived on the FGSnews microsite with the current term and previous term of all three editions available so visitors can review prior versions of the newsletter.

Submission Protocols and Deadlines

Call for Submissions email is sent out two weeks before the Thursday publication date to graduate community and campus partners. All submissions must be sent to fgsinfo@yorku.ca by 4:30pm Thursday preceding the Thursday publication date. Submissions received after this time will not be included in the newsletter. Submissions should be no more than three–four lines (roughly equivalent to 360 characters) and should include a link where possible. Submissions should be AODA compliant. If it’s appropriate, content may be featured in more than one edition of FGSnews.
