My experience with DARE was incredibly rewarding because it gave me the opportunity to contribute to meaningful academic research while developing skills that I know will benefit me throughout my career. It was my first experience working on a long-term research project, and I gained confidence in my ability to work independently, solve problems, and manage a large project from start to finish. It also showed me how research can have a real impact by preserving important cultural history and creating resources that others can build on in the future. I鈥檓 very grateful for the opportunity and for everything I learned throughout the experience.
Project Description:
Conducted research for the DARE project 鈥淒igital Magazine Research-Creation: Hispanic Cultural Production in Canada,鈥 where I catalogued and analyzed Hispanic and multilingual publications across Canada, created annotated bibliographies, organized research databases, and produced quantitative analyses that supported conference papers and academic publication.The Dean鈥檚 Award for Research Excellence (DARE) - Undergraduate enables our students to meaningfully engage in research projects supervised by LA&PS faculty members.
