
David Skinner, associate professor in the Department of Communication & Media Studies, has written a new book, A Political Economy of Canadian Broadcasting. The book provides a history of public broadcasting in anglophone Canada starting in the 1920s, looking at topics like regulation, private capital and foreign programming. The text is recommended reading for policy makers and those studying topics like communications, political science and Canadian studies.
David Skinner received his PhD in Communication from Simon Fraser University. His research interests include political economy of communication, media policy, and alternative and community media.
