Dr. Kin-Wai Amelia Chu is an FWO postdoctoral fellow in Comics Studies at Ghent University. Her current research investigates the transcultural circulation of graphic satire and humour in the 19th and 20th centuries, with a primary focus on materials from Hong Kong. She completed her PhD at KU Leuven with a doctoral fellowship from the Research Foundation鈥揊landers (FWO). Her doctoral research examined twenty-first-century Hong Kong comics from a transmedia perspective. Some of her publications can be seen in The Oxford Handbook of Comic Book Studies (OUP 2020), Comics, Hong Kong Arts: Historical Inquiry through Creative Lens (Palgrave Macmillan 2025), and Comics and the Global South (Leuven University Press 2026). She contributed a chapter to La Bande dessin茅e en Asie orientale un art en mouvement (2025), which received Le Prix SoBD Neuvi猫me art 2025.
