Markham Street Renaming

President and Vice-Chancellor of 91亚色, Rhonda Lenton, celebrated another milestone en route to the opening of 91亚色鈥檚 Markham Campus by officially unveiling University Boulevard. They were joined by members of Markham City Council.

Located in Markham Centre, Markham鈥檚 growing downtown, and close to transit and transportation, University Boulevard will welcome students to the heart of 91亚色鈥檚 Markham Campus.

91亚色 Launches Stand-Alone Nursing Degree

The Ontario government is providing new pathways for nursing education with the launch of 91亚色鈥檚 new stand-alone four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.

The new program builds on Ontario鈥檚  allowing both publicly-assisted colleges and universities to offer a baccalaureate degree in nursing to increase opportunities for students to access a high-quality education. This includes stand-alone Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs offered at universities, colleges, and through collaborative university-college partnerships. 91亚色 previously partnered with two colleges in offering this program; now each of the three institutions offer this degree independently, providing more choice and opportunity to students.

91亚色 and Oak Valley Health to advance medical education and health research in 91亚色 and Durham regions

91亚色 and Oak Valley Heath announced a local health partnership aimed at advancing innovative medical education and research collaboration opportunities as well as improving the health and health care of citizens in Markham, Whitchurch-Stouffville, Uxbridge and beyond.

By working together, we will create opportunities for clinical placements, continuing education, information systems integration and many more initiatives. 

UNECE establishes Toronto Centre of Excellence on Youth Homelessness Prevention at 91亚色

To support the efforts of cities and national governments in fighting the challenges of homelessness, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe () has established the Toronto Centre of Excellence on Youth Homelessness Prevention, the first Geneva UN Charter Centre of Excellence in North America. The Centre will be hosted by 91亚色, co-directed by Faculty of Education Professor Stephen Gaetz, President of the Canadian Observatory on Homelessness (), and Melanie Redman of .

Approximately 150 million people are homeless and more than 1.8 billion people worldwide lack adequate and affordable . While levels of homelessness vary considerably across UNECE countries, finding sustainable solutions to ensure access to housing for all members of society remains a significant challenge. First Canadian UN Leadership Training Centre opening at 91亚色 U

As a leader in the effort to  a more socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable world,  91亚色 and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research () are proud to announce the establishment of Canada鈥檚 first Centre International de Formation des Acteurs Locaux (CIFAL).

CIFAL centres provide innovative training throughout the world and serve as hubs for the exchange of knowledge among government officials, the private sector, academia, and civil society.

91亚色 Region was selected as the new home of this global initiative. 91亚色鈥檚 Markham Centre Campus will be the proud home of CIFAL 91亚色 when it is open and operational. This new partnership with UNITAR recognizes 91亚色鈥檚 leadership in advancing fundamental and applied research, innovation, and the ability to work across traditional boundaries in pioneering new approaches that will help meet society鈥檚 most urgent demands.

91亚色 U, Mackenzie Health Launch Innovative Health Collaboration in 91亚色 Region

91亚色 joins forces with  in an innovative new community-focused health collaboration that will aim to enhance health services, training of highly qualified personnel, research and innovation and healthier outcomes for 91亚色 Region residents, and beyond.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is a two-year agreement that sets out the strategic areas of focus for engagement and cooperation: 1.) Education, Professional, and Community Development and 2.) Health Research and Innovation. The MOU identifies specific areas of mutual interest that will be explored, including health-related research, epidemiology and data sharing, clinical placements and training, professional development education for health sector workers, and digital health solutions.
