Eric Kennedy, associate professor of Disaster & Emergency Management, has received the prestigious Ontario Early Researcher Award. The award recognizes faculty within their first 10 years of their academic career at a publicly funded Ontario institution, who are advancing knowledge and educating future leaders.
Kennedy’s project will focus on enhancing wildfire predictive services in Ontario. This set of systems work to protect communities from wildfire and was created in partnership with Ontario’s Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services. These systems are essential today as wildfires become a growing threat in the region.
