The Global Labour Research Centre (GLRC) invites applications for a work‑study position supporting research, community engagement, and digital knowledge mobilization. This role offers hands‑on experience in advancing work on labour, inequality, and social justice in a collaborative and inclusive environment.
Priority will be given to students with disabilities.
Position Overview
The successful candidate will contribute across three key areas:
- Research and knowledge mobilization
- Event planning and coordination
- Digital content, including website and podcast production
This is an ideal opportunity for students interested in labour studies, public scholarship, and community‑engaged research.
Key Responsibilities
Research and Knowledge Mobilization
- Conduct literature reviews and background research
- Prepare annotated bibliographies and plain‑language summaries
- Support materials for community classes and lunch‑and‑learn sessions
Podcast and Digital Media
- Assist with researching, scripting, recording, and editing episodes
- Help disseminate content across academic and community networks
- Ensure accessibility through captions and transcripts
Website and Accessibility
- Support website updates and content management
- Assist with accessibility audits (alt text, formatting, captions)
- Implement improvements to digital materials
Event Planning and Coordination
- Help organize workshops and community events
- Prepare materials and coordinate logistics
- Contribute to event documentation and summaries
Qualifications
- Interest in research, labour issues, or social justice
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience (or willingness to learn) website management
- Interest or experience in podcast or digital media production
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
