During this decade, the 2010 Olympics held in Vancouver were a moment of great national pride, with Canada winning 14 gold medals. Sidney Crosby’s Golden Goal was a memorable moment and also Scott Moir and Tessa Virtue taking the gold in ice dance.
Juno winners this decade include Michael Bublé, Nelly Furtado, Nickelback, Arcade Fire, Carly Rae Jepson, Drake, and Leonard Cohen (who died in 2016).

YURA during this decade

Pattern of regular in-person activities: Annual “Showcase” event held to build community and raise funds for YURA student awards; annual AGM meetings held in person, often at the Underground Restaurant; YURA executive members very active at CURAC conferences
Annual YURA outings to Stratford and the Shaw Festivals, as well as to other destinations e.g. Port Perry, Prince Edward County, St Jacobs; also held urban walks in various parts of the city
Learning opportunities provided relating to research on aging, travel insurance, power of attorney, living with Parkinson’s, Habitat for Humanity, etc.
A Gourmet club operated for several years (2014-15), also a fitness program (2007-08)
2010 sudden death of Nancy Accinelli, YURA Co-President
2011 Person-to-Person Bulletin launched, for members to share information relating to health and practical advice, as well as humour
2012 91��ɫ hosted the annual CURAC conference; electronic distribution of YURA Newsletter, now with a feature called “Life as it was then—reminiscences”, with Anne- Marie Ambert as editor, following Irina Ostapchuk (hard copy mailings sent to those who requested them); YU-CARD made available to YURA members
2012 Memorandum of Understanding signed by YURA and 91��ɫ, affirming the status of retirees as members of the 91��ɫ community
