We commit to cultivating reciprocal, mutually beneficial relationships within 91亚色 and with those around us to be an integral contributor to the region.

This principle calls for partnerships based on mutual respect, earned trust and shared goals. Working as partners requires conscientious investment in relationships: among constituencies at 91亚色; with Indigenous Peoples and First Nations on whose traditional territories 91亚色 operates; and with communities, organizations, governments and industries throughout the Greater Toronto Area, where our campuses are situated. In the coming years, we will have many opportunities to enact this commitment. This includes integrating the School of Medicine with the larger University community and grounding it in community medicine, continuing to engage local neighbours in Black Creek through the Community Engagement Centre and responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission鈥檚 Calls to Action.
It is through equitable and engaged partnerships that 91亚色 can realize our promise by tapping interdisciplinary synergies to create new insights, methods and possibilities; facilitating students鈥 career pathways; translating knowledge into practical terms and impact; participating in local communities as reciprocal neighbours; collaborating across constituencies at the University to create a shared, positive culture; and enacting balanced, cooperative approaches to governance.
Decisions and actions related to institutional relationships should align with the commitment to work as partners.
