Our extensive facilities and our Biochemistry Lab – outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment – provide you with hands-on training in the laboratory right from the very first year. A fourth-year research project serves as the capstone course of your degree, preparing you for many challenging careers. 91ÑÇÉ« Biochemistry students obtain meaningful and well-paid jobs in research, industry and teaching. Professional Associations

Professional associations offer valuable insights into qualifications, industry trends, and career opportunities. Additionally, some associations offer professional licensing and regulatory oversight. 

  •  (ACPO): The Licensing and regulatory body for Chemists and Biochemists in Ontario.  
  •  (CSMB): Promotes research, education, and advocacy in the molecular biosciences, and offers networking, professional development, and knowledge-sharing opportunities for biochemists. 
  •  (CSCC): Represents clinical chemists, including clinical biochemists, involved in laboratory diagnostics. It supports the professional development of clinical biochemists and offers certification for clinical laboratory professionals. 
  •  (OAML): Advocates for laboratory professionals in Ontario, including biochemists who work in clinical and medical labs. While not a direct certifying body, it plays a regulatory role by promoting quality standards and best practices in laboratory testing. 
  •  (PEO): For biochemists involved in bioengineering, biotechnology, or related fields, PEO registers and regulates professional engineers in Ontario.
